On a below freezing night in February, the members of the Audubon Fire Department used the ice-covered water of Haddon Lake to train for a rare, but serious scenario. Someone has fallen through a break in the ice in the Lake, and needs to be rescued. With the water being so cold, rescuers have very little time with which to pull the victim out before hypothermia, and eventually death, sets it. After watching a video, and discussing the scenario the week before, they set out for Haddon Lake, and in a quick and professional manor they pulled the "victim" out of the ice. After returning to the station, the members went over any mistakes or future improvements that could be made.
