On October 19, 2007 Task Force
14 (Haddonfield) was dispatched for a dwelling fire at
340 Kings Highway at 930 pm.
Police arrived on location and reported a basement fire with all occupants out.
Haddonfield Command arrived and reported a 2 ½ story wood frame dwelling with
heavy smoke showing. Companies led off with a 2 ½ hand line.
Crews reported heavy fire conditions in the basement with fire extending
through the walls. The 2nd alarm was sounded.
Crews battled limited access to the basement with conditions worsening.
Shortly into the job crews reported heavy fire on the first floor with a
floor collapse in the C – D side of the dwelling. At that
time evacuation tones were sounded. Command reported heavy
fire conditions on the 1st floor and 2nd floor and shortly
after through the roof. The 3rd Alarm was struck
for manpower well into the job. No firefighter injuries were
reported. The owner stated he attempted to extinguish the
blaze himself prior to calling. The fire is under investigation by the Camden
County Fire Marshals Office.
